Mission Statement
Understanding the individuality of each student, while addressing academic, social, and emotional needs, by promoting responsibility in daily education,
is the mission of the Stafford Municipal School District
Counseling Department.

SMSD's Guidance Counseling Program has been designed to identify and prevent problems before they occur through bullying prevention techniques, cultural awareness, conflict resolution, character education, and pro-social skills.  Our goal is to instill appreciation of diversity among people, respond to identified individual student needs, and provide instruction to students and families about healthy choices and safe and drug-free environments.  These services are delivered through classroom guidance, small goup counseling and individual counseling.  SMSD is a culturally rich community; therefore, cultural awareness is also an important component of our overall guidance program.  We truly believe, "When you help a child today, you write the history of tomorrow!"
