For the first time in 20 years the Spartan Band has earned the title of Sweepstakes Band at the UIL contest. The Spartans have received a Division 1 On-Stage, Division 1 Sight-Reading, and Division 1 Marching. This is the first time a 3A school has been awarded Sweepstakes Band.

Stafford DECA sent 36 students to compete at the annual DECA Texas State Career Development Conference in Corpus Christi. Thirteen members placed as winners - 8 Finalists and 5 Alternates - and will advance to International Competitions in Atlanta, Gorgia, April 26-30, 2008!
. . . to Kathy Ratcliff!
Our very own Mrs. Ratcliff was a winner in Office Max and Adopt-A-Classroom program. In the surprise presentation she received classroom supplies, a bouquet of flowers, a chair, a cart, and a printer! Congratulations, Kathy!

September 15, 2007, SMSD and the City of Stafford celebrated our instructional staff and the 25th anniversary of the opening of SMSD. Four of our original employees (above) are Virginia Lopez, Sadie Williams, Laura Carlstrom, and Lolly Melchor! Congratulations for 25 years!
. . . to Ms. Susan Hunter!
On August 20, 2007, Susan Hunter received the first ever SMSD 25-year service award. SMSD opened its doors to students on August 26, 1982, and Ms. Hunter was one of the charter teachers who welcomed those first students. Congratulations, Ms. Hunter!
